Meet the Rabbi.jpgThe Begun's
Rabbi Mendy and Mussie Begun embarked on their life journey together in February 2015. They are a dynamic couple who have been involved in Jewish education and outreach all their lives. Mendy and Mussie are known for their warm and welcoming hospitality. Their many guests enjoy their passionate sharing of Judaism, friendly relaxed atmosphere and great food!

In the summer of 2016 the Beguns moved to Chula Vista to establish a new Chabad Center to cater to the growing Jewish community. Chabad of Chula Vista offers a variety of adult and children’s educational programming including Jewish Women’s Circle, Torah and Tea, and their blossoming Hebrew school. They conduct Shabbat and holiday services and offer programs and meals at their synagogue and home. In addition, they offer a wide range of other Jewish services including officiating at weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, and funerals;  and visits to senior homes and centers, hospitals and prisons. The Beguns have a full Jewish lending library and are delighted to host one-on-one or small group study sessions with all who have a question or subject they’d like to explore.

Mussie Begun
Mussie grew up in Brooklyn, NY and is a daughter of Rabbi Chaim Shaul and Blumi Brook, dedicated community activists in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
